With time, I find myself trying out more beauty and skincare products and loving them. I've been trying out new makeup and some of them have made it to my growing everyday makeup routine. I thought it would only be right to share these products with you in this post and what I think of them!
I have been absolutely loving KathleenLights' Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in the shade Alyssa from her collaboration with ColourPop. Ever since she talked about it in her announcement video on YouTube, I was eyeing this specific shade because I don't own any shade similar to it. It's the perfect neutral pink and nude lipstick that is wearable on any day (I may have worn it to school a few times too). Since I've started applying eyeshadow, I love wearing this on my lips since it isn't over the top and just works perfectly with the warm eyeshadow look I wear. As a liquid lipstick, I do not find it drying at all and it lasts for a long time on the lips. It is the only lipstick I own as well that fades away in a way that I am not forced to re-apply the lipstick which is convenient too.
Another product of hers I've been obsessing over is the Mr. Bing eyeliner. Can we first talk about how she named the liner after one of the characters from Friends? Coincidentally, I was binge watching the show for the first time and almost finished it by the time she came out with this line. This is a rich warm brown liner and as soon as she said this is perfect for people with hazel eyes, I was sold. It's quite rare to find a cheaper alternative to one of MAC's warm brown eyeliners, so I was really happy about this $5 one from her collaboration. This liner adds the perfect touch to my warm neutral look. ColourPop has great products for such good prices, it's crazy that the liner and lipstick only cost $11 together.
I never thought the day would come where I don't use my Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter but it has. Instead, I've been using Urban Decay's Naked Illuminated and even though this is a highlighter with shimmer I still like it somehow. It helps me look even more awake and my skin look healthy during this time of the year. Another product that I always have to use now whenever I go out (on the weekends, not to school) is Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. I think almost everyone knows this product and loves it as much as I do. It's the perfect mix of warm and ashy tones, which is why I love it so much.
For skincare, I've been loving six new products. Many people use coconut oil to remove their makeup and I always wanted to try it but still stuck with makeup wipes and my Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I tried using coconut oil one night and it was the best decision I made. I heat it up in the microwave for it to melt and then take a decent amount and start removing my makeup with it. I try to wash a bit off but then use a cleaner that I will mention soon and voila all gone. I love how smooth it makes my skin feel and doesn't irritate it like makeup wipes. I use it every time when I put a full face of makeup like on the weekends, otherwise I stick to cotton pads and micellar water on weekdays.
The two masks I have been using recently are the L'Oréal Detox Pure Clay Mask and Body Shop's Aloe Soothing Cream Mask. The L'Oréal mask was one that I saw many people using along with the two other masks from the range. Each of the three masks is targeted towards one area of your face and I believe this one was meant for the nose but I just purchased this one and use it for my entire face anyway. I love how it feels tight after a while and it starts to get lighter showing all the pores that is being purified. My skin glows and looks so healthy after using this mask. The Aloe Vera mask is actually an overnight mask which I didn't realize until after I used it last time. It looks and feels like you're putting on a moisturizer. You're supposed to put a decent layer of it a few hours before sleeping then just go to bed with it and because it already dries on your skin hours before, it won't go all over your sheets and pillows. I use this immediately when I feel like my skin is irritated, like after I get my brows done.
Another product I like to use alongside the Aloe Vera mask is the foam cleanser from the same range. Aloe Vera is meant to sooth your skin so this has been my go to cleanser. I also love how it comes out as foam, as I've never had a cleanser like that before and I think I prefer this type of cleanser more.
With the very cold weather we've been having these days, my skin can get drier and my makeup can look weird, if I don't moisturize it enough. Before applying my makeup I love using this Venus face serum for my foundation to apply smoothly and for my face to glow. The skincare products I've been using are definitely helping me in making my makeup look the way I want it to despite how the weather is.
The last product I found myself reaching out to is the infamous Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Although my skin cleared from the Roaccutane prescription I had, nothing can stop my skin from breaking out a tad bit during that time of the month. Hence, this drying lotion has been a lifesaver. I take a cotton ear bud and dip it in the product (without shaking the bottle) then simply apply it on the spots. It does tingle and leave a burning sensation at first but it doesn't feel like there's anything on your face after a few minutes.
