How to Stay Organized (Free Printables)

2.1.16

free printable 2016 calendar

Happy new year! I hope all of you had a great time celebrating. I'm so happy that January is finally here and I'm excited to be blogging more like I mentioned in my slacking on blogging post and my new year's resolutions post. I did mention I would post on Mondays and Fridays but I felt like it would be more beneficial to have this post up as soon as possible instead of waiting till Monday. Keep reading to find out how I'm planning on staying organized this year in the easiest ways possible!

1. USE PLANNERS/CALENDARS

To stay organized, using a planner or calendar is a must. When you feel like you have too many things to do, writing them down on your planner helps a lot. Writing those tasks down as a list is very effective and also stress-relieving. It's not easy keeping all these things juggled up in your head and often you tend to forget something. For this year, I opted for free monthly printables that I found here. You can also print out a free printable wall calendar here

I'm using a notebook that I transformed into a planner  (to take to school with me) and have the monthly printable in a black clipboard ready at home to list things I need to do when I get back home from school. You can also color coordinate your tasks! On the printable, I highlight my school tasks with a pink highlighter, my blogging tasks with orange and general to-do tasks with yellow. It just helps me know easily what needs to be done in each of these categories.

2. USE WUNDERLIST

If you don't like writing things down, then the app Wunderlist is perfect for you. Along with my planner, I love using this when I don't have the chance to write things down. I've downloaded many to-do list apps before but none of them beats this one. It's perfect because you get to list the things you need to do with a due date, movies you want to watch, things you need to buy and more. I got many people I know to use this app and I'm positive that they still use it till this date.

3. PUT IT AWAY

Instead of leaving it for later, put things away immediately after using them. Putting things back such as clothing, your hairbrush, tools, items makes things way easier for you. If you don't do that then you're just going to end up with a big pile of stuff every day which adds another task to your to-do list, tidying up. It only takes a few minutes when you do it immediately.

4. CLEAN EVERY DAY

Sorting things out and cleaning for about 30 minutes every day helps a lot. This is one of the easiest things for me, I don't even consider it as a task anymore. It's gotten to a point where I need to clean my room (dusting the tables off and hoovering) before moving on to start my tasks, or I feel very unorganized. Cleaning every day ends up taking little amount of time during the day while when you leave it for a few days, it will end up taking hours.

5. DECLUTTER

Decluttering is very important when trying to stay organized. The best thing to do is going through your stuff every month and making piles of things you don't need anymore or don't see yourself wearing in the future. Keep in mind that it is okay to keep some things because of sentimental value, but only to an extent. Just be smart with this and donate them only if they're worth donating (which they should be once you start decluttering every month).

Doing these five things every day is very efficient and eventually becomes something that takes up less time than it does at first. It boosts your motivation for the day as well, with a cleaner and more organized atmosphere you tend to be more productive.

What do you do to stay organized every day?

  2. I love cleaning out my closet! I usually go through my wardrobe at the beginning of each season, gathering clothes to be donated (and it usually gives me an excuse to do a little extra shopping *wink*).

  3. Putting things away straight away makes such a difference! It usually only takes a few seconds to put something away but seeing it looking messy for days can be sooo stressful - so it's really worth it. Decluttering is going to be my theme for the year. Great post! :)

  12. Printables are the best, thanks for sharing, these are gorgeous! And I absolutely agree with your list. I don't go anywhere without my planner which is from Moleskine (and I absolutely love it). I was thinking of making a bullet journal too but it was too much work for me so I stuck with premade planners that I can decorate with doodles. I'm now using Google Keep for notes, Google Calendar for planning my day (the app is beautiful) and Swipes for ticking off my tasks xx

  29. It's funny how such simple task such as putting things away immediately makes a huge differences in staying organized. My husband is a clean freak so I started a habit of doing that and I must say it helps a lot. I know many might diss it as common sense but most of us leave things around without even noticing it.

  50. I've really been trying as part of my 2016 Goals to declutter. I bought myself a Kikki K planner (which is like a filofax). They are currently in the sale and I would recommend them so much. They are lifetime investments and has helped me keep organised so much. Great post! Really given me some good techniques.
