Favorite Books of 2015

I mentioned on my New Years Resolutions post that I only ended up reading 20 books in 2015 which is disappointing for me as I wanted to read 35 books. Luckily though, I enjoyed every book I read and did not end up disliking any. Since I didn't read much, I only have 8 books I picked as my favorite books of 2015 (some are of all time).  You will notice that five of these books are by the same author, and that's because I discovered Colleen's book "Maybe Someday" in 2014 and she instantly became my favorite author. Hence, I picked up most of her other books in 2015 (still have two left for whenever I'm in need of reading one of her books).

208209941| I'll Give You the Sun

Author: Jandy Nelson

Page Count: 371

Format: Hardcover

ISBN: 0803734964

Goodreads Synopsis: Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

- I read this back in June, and I loved it so much obviously why would it be in this post then. It's such a beautiful book that brought me to tears and the fact that it's being adapted into a movie is very exciting! The way this book is written was very interesting and just very touching. I loved how there were two POVs and LGBTQ themes involved. I suggest that you only read the synopsis and read it without knowing too much, I guarantee you will love it. I'm hoping I can pick up Jandy's other book soon.

2| The Last Time We Say Goodbye

Author: Cynthia Hand

Page Count: 386

Format: Hardcover

ISBN: 0062318470

Goodreads Synopsis: There's death all around us. We just don't pay attention. Until we do. The last time Lex was happy, it was before. When she had a family that was whole. A boyfriend she loved. Friends who didn't look at her like she might break down at any moment. Now she's just the girl whose brother killed himself. And it feels like that's all she'll ever be. As Lex starts to put her life back together, she tries to block out what happened the night Tyler died. But there's a secret she hasn't told anyone-a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything. Lex's brother is gone. But Lex is about to discover that a ghost doesn't have to be real to keep you from moving on.

- This just brought me to tears, once again. Most of these books did, that's when you know a book is really good and that you truly connected with it. I think the concept of a teenager losing her brother is what made me really want to read this book. I could never imagine how painful it must be to lose a sibling. Going through her thoughts and her journey was very striking.

3| Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3)

Author: Stephanie Perkins

Page Count: 339

Format: Hardcover

ISBN: 0525425632

Goodreads Synopsis: Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter
in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

- Yes, this one made me cry too when it shouldn't have. I just loved the trilogy so much that I didn't want it to end. All three books are very uplifting and cute romance stories to read set in three different cities. All of the characters coming together from all three books at the end just made me feel very emotional, I was smiling and crying at the same time. Out of all three, Anna and the French Kiss is my favorite but I read that in 2014. Between "Lola and the Boy Next Door" and "Isla and the Happily Ever After", I enjoyed Isla more. You should definitely pick these books up during spring/summer, I guarantee you will love them!

173344114| Hopeless

Author:  Colleen Hoover

Page Count: 416

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 147674355X

Goodreads Synopsis: Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless
than believing the lies… That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets
Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke
feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span
of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks
buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried. Sky struggles to
keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

- I don't want to say much about this, as going into Colleen's books unaware of anything is the best option. Only thing I would say is that there's always a twist with her books. You can never know when that heartbreaking tragic twist comes, and that's one of my favorite things about her books.

5| Confess

Author: Colleen Hoover

Page Count: 306

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 1476791457

Goodreads Synopsis: Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in
sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in
search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist
who works there, Owen Gentry. For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in
control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude
of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to
get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it. The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

- There's a reason this won best romance book of 2015 on Goodreads just saying. I loved the concept of this book, all the real confessions made by people that were put in this book and the art as well. You should check out confessyourtruth on Instagram, Colleen posts people's confessions without ever revealing who they are or replying.

158173626| Slammed (Slammed #1)

Author: Colleen Hoover

Page Count: 321

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 1476715904

Goodreads Synopsis: Layken's father died suddenly, leaving her to gather every ounce
of strength to be a pillar for her family, in order to prevent their world from falling apart.
Now her life is taking another unexpected turn... Layken's mother gets a job which leads to
an unwanted move across the country. However, a new home means new neighbours...
and Layken's new neighbour is the very attractive Will Cooper. Will has an
intriguing passion for slam poetry, and a matching passion for life. The two feel
an irresistible attraction but are rocked to the core when a shocking revelation brings their romance to a screeching halt. Layken and Will must find a way to fight the forces that threaten to tear them apart...or learn to live without each other.

- Once again, love the twists and the romance. I've never read any slam poetry so having that in this book was very nice and made me love the book even more.

158173777| Point of Retreat (Slammed #2)

their entire world, and the lives of those who depend upon them the most...

8| November 9

Author: Colleen Hoover

Page Count: 320

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 1501110349

Goodreads Synopsis: Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

- I think this would have to be my second favorite book of hers after Maybe Someday. I loved the premise and of course never saw the twist coming. I had tears in my eyes (couldn't cry because I was at school, had to keep it together)

  43. I use to be such an avid reader, but university and life seemed to get in the way, and I wasn't reading nearly as much. I'm really going to try and be more diligent about setting some time aside to curl up with a book (and tea, of course). I'm currently reading Silkworm (although, I wasn't a huge fan of the first book in the series).
