Birthday Book Haul | 2015

5.10.15

Hello everyone! You most likely didn't know but it was my birthday last week on the 26th! I'm very grateful for all the gifts I received especially the Amazon gift cards. Of course I had to make a book order with most of those cards I received. Thankfully, Amazon Prime exists and I got my books in no time. Here are all the books I've purchased.

1| Username Evie

Author:  Joe Sugg

Page Count: 192

Format: Hardcover

ISBN: 1473619130

Goodreads Synopsis: Like anyone who feels as though they just don't fit in,
Evie dreams of a place of safety. When times are tough, all she wants is a chance to
escape from reality and be herself.

Despite his failing health, Evie's father comes close to creating such a virtual
idyll. Passing away before it's finished, he leaves her the key in the form of an app,
and Evie finds herself transported to a world where the population is influenced by
her personality. Everyone shines in her presence, until her devious cousin, Mallory, discovers the app... and the power to cause trouble in paradise.

- Many YouTubers have books released now and although I enjoy watching their videos I didn't ever feel the need to purchase them. Joe's novel on the other hand, I was intrigued by. I liked the idea of him releasing a graphic novel instead of an autobiography and overall I liked the synopsis so I went ahead and bought it. I already read it in one go during a road trip, and I enjoyed it. Also, surprisingly my novel was signed which made me quite happy.

2| The 5th Wave

Author:  Rick Yancey

Page Count: 457

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 0142425834

Goodreads Synopsis: After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only
the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one
rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it's the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs
from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing
anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.

Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

- This book I've been wanting to read for ages especially since I heard about the movie adaptation. I just never found copies of the first book and the second book of the trilogy by the same publisher so that put me off from buying them.

3| The Infinite Sea (The 5th Wave #2)

Author:
 Rick Yancey

Page Count: 336

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 1101996986

Goodreads Synopsis:

How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in
a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As
the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront
the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

- This book in the same edition as my copy of The 5th Wave (Speak publishing) still hasn't come out. It will be coming out on November 3. I'm very excited to get started with this trilogy.

231689454| The Sky is Everywhere

Author:  Jandy Nelson
Page Count: 277

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 0142417807

Goodreads Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Lennie Walker, bookworm and band geek,

plays second clarinet and spends her time tucked safely and happily in the shadow of her
fiery older sister, Bailey. But when Bailey dies abruptly, Lennie is catapulted to
center stage of her own life - and, despite her nonexistent history with boys, suddenly
finds herself struggling to balance two. Toby was Bailey's boyfriend; his grief
mirrors Lennie's own. Joe is the new boy in town, a transplant from Paris whose
nearly magical grin is matched only by his musical talent. For Lennie, they're the sun and the moon; one boy takes her out of her sorrow, the other comforts her in it. But just like their celestial counterparts, they can't collide without the whole wide world exploding.

- I absolutely loved I'll Give You the Sun, so I thought why not read another one of Jandy's books. I've heard great things about this so I had to add it to the cart too.

5| Finding Cinderella

Author:  Colleen Hoover

Page Count: 176

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 9781471137150

Goodreads Synopsis:

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as

a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who
stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

- I had to buy this copy since, well you know, Colleen is my favorite author. I did make a very silly mistake though. I accidentally bought this book by a different publisher than all the other books of hers that I own. Silly me. Yes, the difference in height will haunt me for the rest of my life.

236647316| Everything, Everything

Author:
 Nicola Yoon

Page Count: 320

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 0552574236

Goodreads Synopsis: Madeline Whittier is allergic to the outside world. So allergic, in
fact, that she has never left the house in all of her seventeen years. But when Olly moves
in next door, and wants to talk to Maddie, tiny holes start to appear in the
protective bubble her mother has built around her. Olly writes his IM address on a piece
of paper, shows it at her window, and suddenly, a door opens. But does Maddie dare to
step outside her comfort zone?

Everything, Everything is about the thrill and heartbreak that happens when we break out of our shell to do crazy, sometimes death-defying things for love.

- Ever since I've heard about this book from people who received ARCs, I've been dying to read this book. I can't wait to finally get to it as it seems like a great read for me.

249260187| Saint Anything

Author:  Sarah Dessen

Page Count: 448

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 0141361735

Goodreads Synopsis: Peyton, Sydney’s charismatic older brother, has always been the
star of the family, receiving the lion’s share of their parents’ attention and—lately—
concern. When Peyton’s increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk
driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place
in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the
only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

126497188| Me Before You

Author: Jojo Moyes

Page Count: 367

Format: Paperback

ISBN: 9780718157838

Goodreads Synopsis: Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps
there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered
Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.

What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is
what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that.

What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

- I've heard great reviews about this book and it just sounds like a lovely romance novel. This one also has a movie adaptation so I bought it to get to it as soon as possible before the movie release.

That's all for the books I've purchased, I hope you enjoyed reading this post! I'm hoping to get back on track with blogging as I stopped for over a month with everything going on in my life like getting adjusted to the new place and school.

Have you read any of these books?
If so, what did you think of it/them?
