Goodbye Dubai, Hello Frankfurt!

10.8.15

Hello everyone! It's been exactly a week since I left Dubai to move to Germany. I already miss Dubai and I think I will continue missing it in the future. I've lived there for 11 years, that's most of my life! It will always be the place I consider home but that doesn't mean I don't like it here. One thing I've been loving here is the wonderful weather and just the atmosphere in general. I love that there's so much greenery unlike in Dubai. I can't wait till everything in my house gets settled, for the moving boxes get here, and to be able to finally lie in my own bed.

Here are a few pictures I took with my phone before I left Dubai and the ones I took here, you can follow me on Instagram for more pictures!

I'm really going to miss going to a bookstore, seeing English books and buying one. Other than food, Kinokuniya was the only reason I wanted to go out. Now I'm going to have to do all my book shopping online which is kind of sad because I love buying them on my own from stores.

Another thing I'm going to miss is Baskin Robbins, specifically the Rainbow Sherbet ice cream. They do not have Baskin Robbins, Cinnabon, Papparotti, Pinkberry, and/or PF Chang's here. So sad.

Now obviously Germany has McDonald's but it will never taste as good as it does there.

On Thursday, me and my cousin went out and had some waffles/brownies with ice cream. It was divine. The mojito drink, not so much. I guess it's just not my type of drink.

Last night, we went out to a place we discovered online called Jamy's Burger and oh how good it was. I will definitely not be missing Shake Shack because this is even better. The meal was very satisfying for my famished stomach.

Did you move from one country to another, how was it like?

  2. I am from the States and moved to Italy last year. My husband and I will be here for the next two to four years. There are things about the States that I always miss so, so much. But I keep finding new reasons to love Italy as well. I am sure you will also. That food looks epic. Have fun!!

  8. Welcome to the neighborhood! I hope you will enjoy your stay around here.
And don't you worry about book shopping, nearly every big book store has a decent English selection to choose from. Try Hugendubel for a start and I promise you will find a variety of English books to buy.

  10. Hi Yousra! Let me tell you how brave you are!! Moving on your own can be scary! I spent a semester abroad in England and it was amazing - I'm Spanish - I'm sure you'll have a great time in Frankfurt. It looks like you're doing well so far!!!

    1. Thank you, but I didn't move here on my own! I'm here with my whole family, I think this whole moving journey would be even more terrifying for me if I was on my own! I'm just 15 I wouldn't survive haha. It's brave of you though to spend a semester abroad alone!

  11. Moving is scary, especially so far away from somewhere you've lived quite a long time. I've moved quite a few times. I moved to the UK for my masters and then moved back to Turkey. Then in November I'll be marrying my German fiancee so I guess I will be moving to another country again, either UK or Germany we will see. I must say it is hard, I always miss the memories... xx

  12. Its hard to leave a place you call a home. I know the feeling. I moved from Ghana, to Austria and to the UK -quite a journey. You get used to it as time goes. I have been to Germany. Its a beautiful country. You'll be fine and hope you settle in soon. :)

  14. The waffles and the burgers both look delicious! I haven't moved much in my life. I did study abroad in Australia for a semester and there were some random differences...which made me really miss some things from the US! But of course, when I came back, I started to miss things from Australia too.

  30. My name is Joyce and my ex-boyfriend dumped me 8 months ago after I caught him of having an affair with someone else and insulting him. I want him back in my life but he refuse to have any contact with me. I was so confuse and don't know what to do, so I visited the INTERNET for help and I saw a testimony of how a spell caster help them to get their ex back so I contact the spell caster and explain my problems to him..... he cast a spell for me and assure me of 3 days that my ex will return to me and to my greatest surprise the third day my man came knocking on my door and beg for forgiveness. I am so happy that my love is back again and not only that, we are about to get married. 31. Wow that is a huge move. I would love to hear more about it. They are both places I want to visit one day! I immigrated from China to NY, USA when I was 9 years old. Because I was so young then it was more exciting than nervous for me.
